I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

~ Psalms 139:14

This new chemo is crummy.  Just saying.

The one thing that I’m dealing with lately is the potential loss of my fingernails and toenails.  They seem to be loosening from their nailbeds.  You’d be surprised how much you rely on your fingernails, and I’m just learning how to cope without them (even though I haven’t officially lost any of them yet) because I am protecting them so carefully at the off-chance that I can prevent their loss.  I suppose eventually I’ll be carting around a pair of little scissors and tweezers to help do the chores of those ten little useful tools God gave us.  Sort of like Edward Scissorhands, I guess.

In an effort to choose to see things in a positive light, I’ve been made ever more aware at how marvelously God creating our bodies.  We give little thought to how perfectly orchestrated our bodies work in symmetry until something is in danger of failing – then it becomes a painful loss.  But think about it.  When He created us, He knew we needed fingernails and toenails.  Little thing, I know, but doesn’t that make it all the more marvelous that the Lord Of All considered even the smallest detail when He drew up the plan for our lives?  It amazes me.

So I may lose the use of one small part for a season.  It serves as a reminder of His love for us when we were “fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalms 139:14)

    Lori,

I know that you remain in His hands, but I want you to be reminded that you are in our prayers as well. Our people at Bethany Church are interceeding on behalf of you and John and pray that you are showered with the presence and healing power of the Father.

Thank you for the encouragement that your heart for Him brings to this preacher!

Lori, this reminds me of what my hairdresser told me the last time I was in. He has studied the body, the scalp and hair all of his 40+ years while he has been a hairstylist. He told me the scalp is very sensitive and the hair is actually a filter to absorb the toxins and other things from our bodies that come through the scalp….so if the hair isn’t healthy it means there is possibly something not right in our bodies. He also said our nose hairs are filters to screen out unwanted and harmful items from our bodies through the sensitive membranes of our noses. Likewise our eyebrows and eyelashes or not there just for looks but to actually protect our eyes from harm and danger. Yes….most fearfully and wonderfully made and those are just the ways we can see.
    Love, Rose
