May 28, 2009 ~ Good News!

I’ve got good news to share!  My platelets are up to 83!  This after having been down to 49 just last Thursday when we were at the MD Anderson Emergency Room.  This is the kind of number we were praying to see this week, and I am so thankful that the Lord answered our prayers.

It was a long day, as most treatment days are, but this one was longer than normal.  My first appointment was at 8:30 this morning, and I didn’t get home until 10:00 pm.  My chemo treatment started on time at 10:30 a.m., but I learned that I needed to receive a blood transfusion since my hemoglobin count was down to 7.9.  I’m pretty certain that this is caused by these darn nose bleeds that are so hard to stop, but with higher and higher platelet numbers, the nose bleeds should be getting farther and farther apart and easier and easier to stop.  That’s a huge part of the reason that the platelet number of 83 was such a welcome delight to see!  Living with nose bleeds seems like a little annoyance maybe, but it’s disconcerting when they just won’t stop.  And there is a decided “ick factor” to0.

So I’m tired but happy.  Over all, it was a long day but a good day with good news to focus my attention on.

Thank you, Lord, for giving me this bit of good news!
